That said, most gals (of my generation) cut the dress off so it wasn't floor length, and maybe put a panel in the slit (prom dresses are pretty much made to show off an available gal, let's be honest). When my parents divorced, my mom returned to her maiden name. It was fine until 9/11 and travel security in America got very strict. Before, it was easy for my mom to get a pass so she could walk me to the plane when I went to see my dad. After 9/11, because we have different last names she had to bring a lot of paperwork just to prove she was my mother. My dad didn't have to because it was obvious by our last names we're related. She was very salty about this at the time

If OP is comfortable keeping the money when the ex has sent all of these texts and calls saying, "please give it back, that was an accident", then I don't trust her to be someone who respects written agreements. I doubt her 12k in loaned rent payments are all (maybe the first, but probably not all) explicitly recorded in writing as loans, and I'm not willing to extend that she has summarized the debt and given him written documentation of her intent to collect. "It's too expensive to sue" is not an excuse when you're the debt collector, especially when there are other financial obligations to consider. The previous court ruling on child support doesn't need to be revisited for the management company to begin taking money out of his check, but if she takes him to court, there's a good chance they will have to revisit the payment schedule especially since they both seem to make quite a bit of money in spite of the 4 children they're responsible for.

So I experienced a pretty bad “best friend break up” during the pandemic. While I wasn’t completely blameless in the situation, I did apologize for my part but it’s just like Charlotte said: these people will make themselves look like the victim and spin the story to make you the villain even to those close to you. While we were besties, I missed SO many signs of how mean she actually was. She purposely left my now best friend out of a trip to the coast and when I confronted her she gaslighted me saying she didn’t notice she left the girl behind. I found out so many things about her from other girls that were previously her best friend that I felt I was going crazy. To top it all I found not too long ago a video in my phone where she was tearing me down for not being able to hold on monkey bars after so many months of training (she was a gym rat). MONKEY BARS. So yeah, I wish her well, but very far away from me.

Having to change all your documents due to a name change is inconvenient, but it's not always about inconvenience when children are involved. I went thru a similar situation as the 1st story. We married young, had children, divorced and I kept my ex's last name. Years later, my ex married a jealous woman named Mary. And she hated me; hated me! Prior to Mary, my ex and my co-parenting situation was a best case scenario. Mary nagged my ex incessantly about my keeping his last name. She wanted him to force me to go back to my maiden name. I wouldn't budge! The matter ended up in court, where a judge agreed with my reasoning and I retained my ex's last name. Enrolling kids in school, doctor appointments & trips to the ER, getting their driving permits & licences, and the other many things where we have to prove we're the legal guardian, is less complicated when you share the same last name as the children. Mary thought i was retaining my ex's last name for spite; i wanted to have that same last name as my children. Simple as that and the judge agreed. A decade into their marriage, Mary cheated on my ex & he divorced her. She retained his last name out of spite. They never had children together & my ex hates that she refused to change her name. I mean, i don't blame him; Mary cheated, lied and ripped off a bunch of my ex's property. She also cost him the home he had built for them & Mary's children from a previous marriage. My ex was a long-haul trucker at the time & his earnings were directly deposited into their shared account. Instead of paying their mortgage, Mary spent all the money shopping. She gave any money left from her shopping sprees to her teenagers. When my ex came home every week to every other week, Mary shredded or hid the bills. She only bothered paying their electric & water bill to avoid suspicion. As for me, I still have my ex's last name, which turned out to be very convenient. Years later, after our kids were grown, me & my ex, now older, wiser & more mellow, reconnected at my eldest daughter's wedding. We've been blissfully happy ever since. Mary lives in the same town as we do; she still hates my guts 😂 She's actually had the nerve to come to our door, where she tried to convince me that my husband, now her ex, was having a hot & heavy affair with her 🤪 So yea, she's delulu as well 😂 Mary's adult children have been fed up with her bs for years, but my husband & I have a great relationship with her children. Last month her youngest son visited us while on military leave and brought us an apple pie 💕 The younger me would've posted a picture of Mary's son visiting in our home on FB, along with the lovely apple pie he brought 😂 I reckon I just don't care enough to put that kinda energy out in the world. Considering Mary doesn't even know that I know her adult kids, let alone have any type of relationship with them... OMG!! Think WWIII 🚀

For the first one, with the guy on the bus, I had this happen to me several times. I always have earbuds with me, but only keep one in cuz safety first. I also always have my phone in my hands, or on the bus to the college campus I would have my laptop. When said douche would try to chat me up, I would turn my phone or laptop more towards them and switch to a tab I had specifically for these instances. It would be a story of a gay smex scene. Obviously the guy would read a bit cuz they be nosy like that... Every time they would then look at me in horror and/or disgust and quickly leave to one of the many other empty seats. In my head I would be cackling and go back to doing my homework or scrolling through social media 😂

I work in the insurance industry and when an agent we work with gets divorced/married, it’s a lot of paperwork with everyone they work with. It’s not just a flip of the switch and everything is hunky dory with your name. Demanding they change the name is ridiculous.

1) Nope, you have the same last name as your kids. If the fiance doesn't want to have the same last name as the ex, the fiance should keep her current last name. OP's ex could take the fiance's last name. Other choices can be made. 2) what he's going to do is claim that he gave you the money to make up for child support. OP needs to keep all his texts to prove it had nothing to do with child support. 3) You don't have to have a reason to say no to anyone who wants to freeload off you. Your kids are an excellent reason and she has other resources. The dogs make it harder for her to avail herself to those resources. You are doing her a favor watching the dogs for her.

The one wanting to borrow the wedding dress, it's probably not about the dress in particular but that she would be getting it for free. She is cheap. Not to mention delusional about having to be married by certain age instead of waiting to save money like a normal adult. And the parents are no better for encouraging this.
